Your Recipe For a Show-stopping Holiday Tablescape
Top 5 tips for creating the best holiday tablescape
Who is ready for holiday entertaining? Ready or not, the holidays are coming in fast! We are getting ready to host Friendsgiving and I’m excited to re-create this gorgeous tablescape.
While food is typically the number one priority for holiday hosting, I encourage you to think just as much about the overall experience your guests will have. So after you’ve put together your menu (what they’ll taste), think about the other senses. What do you want your guests to smell (should you light a candle?), what they’ll see (your tablescape, mood lighting and food presentation), and what they’ll hear (what’s your playlist going to be?).
The food, music and appropriate candle scent are all important details, but today we’re here to talk about your table decor. Weather it is simple or elaborate, your guests will appreciate the ambiance it creates and the extra effort.
My recipe for a show-stopping tablescape that will have all of your guests talking:
A centerpiece that isn’t too tall so people can talk over it.
Vintage serving pieces. While most of the items in this tablescape are new, I love adding some vintage pieces to make it feel more “collected.” This beautiful brass sugar and cream set were found at a local antique store here in Franklin.
3. Candle light is one of my favorite mood-setters. Everything feels instantly more elevated and intimate when you take time to light real candles. For a bit of drama, I like to find candles that are at least 12” tall.
4. Layers upon layers! This table takes your eye from one end of the table to the other with various heights, layered elements and textures.
5. Personalize the place settings, and actually put some thought into who your guests are seated next to.
BONUS TIP: Add a take-away gift. Whether it’s a jar of local honey, coffee table book or one of our signature candles, I love leaving a small something on the table for dinner guests to remember the evening by.
